If you're searching for the best Canadian rappers in 2026, start here. Canada's hip hop scene stretches from Vancouver's underground to Montreal's French rap movement — but Toronto remains the undisputed capital of Canadian rap.
This ranking of the top Canadian rappers covers the legends, the current stars, and the underground wave redefining what Canadian hip hop sounds like — including Haitian-Toronto drill artist Young Hadene.
Below: the artists carrying Canadian rap right now, and where the sound goes next.
Every conversation about the best Canadian rappers starts with Drake — the most-streamed rapper ever and the reason the world checks for Canadian hip hop. Tory Lanez and NAV proved Toronto could export multiple sounds at once, while Shad carried lyricism and K-OS proved Canadian rap could be weird, soulful, and Juno-winning all at once.
No Canadian artist changed the math like Drake. Every young rapper in the country — Young Hadene included — works in a landscape he created.
Melodic rap and moody trap that traveled worldwide. Their runs showed that Toronto's sound translates everywhere.
Jazz Cartier, Sean Leon, and 88GLAM built the bridge between the OVO era and today's drill-dominated 6ix. Their dark, cinematic production is the direct ancestor of the sound Young Hadene pushes now.

Young Hadene is taking Haitian-Toronto drill from the 6ix underground to the national stage. As one of the most distinctive new voices among Canadian rappers, he fuses Caribbean heritage with heavy 808-driven Toronto drill — a combination nobody else in the country occupies.
Tracks like "No Sleep" and "6ix Side" document the Haitian-Toronto experience with structured cadence shifts and melodic hooks. Operating independently through Str8hitsRecords, his blueprint — consistent drops, strong visuals, direct fan connection — is the same one that built every modern Canadian rap career.
