Major League Baseball has proposed shortening the season to 154 games from 162 starting in 2029 — and expanding the Division Series to best-of-seven — in labour talks with players.
Shorter seasons, longer playoffs: the classic owner math — less grind, more TV money. Players will price every lost game cheque against October shares.
Jays fans: fewer home dates, higher stakes per series. A 154-game sprint changes pennant races entirely — every September slump becomes fatal.
