Hockey Canada moved to quash the rumour mill Saturday: veteran star Sarah Nurse didn't decline her selection-camp invite — she's unable to attend. College forward Alexia Aubin replaces her on the roster for the world championship run.
"Declined" suggests drama; "unable" suggests life. For one of the faces of Canadian women's hockey, the federation moved fast to protect its player from a narrative.
Nurse is 6ix hockey royalty. Every update on her status moves through group chats from Scarborough rinks to downtown bars. Get well, come back, bring gold — the city is simple about its stars.
